On Friday, December 7, there will be a live downlink from the International Space Station (ISS) to the gymnasium here at The Mandelstam School. We were so excited when our school’s proposal was accepted by NASA. With dignitaries and visitors present, students will get to ask the astronauts questions. All the students submitted questions and some of the best ones were selected for the 20-minute communication window. Extra exciting to all of us is the fact that one of the three astronauts is Serena Auñon-Chancellor, the first Cuban-American in space and the cousin or our own faculty member, Mrs. Magdalena Maury. We will also be delighted to welcome participation by a science class from our neighbors down the street, St. Thomas Episcopal School.
